Disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) are at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This online course has been designed to support individuals who are ready to lead in this fast-moving field and create new opportunities for themselves and their organisations.

Taught by our research-active academics, you’ll master how to research and create AI solutions to real-world challenges, implement new technologies for data-driven businesses, and navigate future technological changes as well.

What you'll learn

As a student, you will gain a wide range of competencies needed to progress in the field of AI with confidence and clarity. As one of our students, you’ll learn how to:

  • Identify, apply, and implement a range of AI tools, algorithms, and techniques for creative problem-solving.
  • Clearly convey ideas and the application of AI to non-specialist audiences, as well as how to present the outcomes of AI solutions.
  • Critically reflect upon and address the legal, social, ethical, cultural, and professional implications of using AI.
  • Use knowledge of applied Machine Learning/ Deep Learning techniques, business analytics, and associated business strategies based on AI to design solutions for a range of applied fields.
  • Utilise various research methods to study AI, and further your understanding of business models and management to contextualise your output.
  • Critically reflect on the significance and impact of AI within the workplace
  • Explore the horizon of AI and its real-world applications in fields such as healthcare, marketing, and the government/public sector.

Entry Requirements:

  • Either an Honours (or higher) degree at 2:2 or above or international equivalent in a STEM discipline (such as computer science, physics, mathematics) or closely related subjects. Applicants must have studied, as part of their first degree, a module in mathematics (pure or applied), statistics, computing, or data analysis or equivalent professional experience (including training in coding).
  • Applicants without relevant degree qualifications will be considered based on relevant professional experience or training, which must include competence in computer programming. This can be evidenced, for example, through a recognised course or module at level 3 or above, an industrial certificate, or a summary of programming projects undertaken.
  • An IELTS 6.0 score (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) if your first language isn’t English (or other English language proficiency qualifications accepted by the University of Hull)
