Biography

International Director of China and Senior management professional responsible for designing and implementing all activities related to attracting and recruiting international students from China. Extensive experience in leading international student recruitment, promoting education programmes and building relationships with prospective students, educational institutions, government departments, influencers and other organisations for education projects.

Dr Zhu’s main areas of expertise include:  

1. International student recruitment: Dr Zhu participates in international student recruitment activities in China, which consist of education events and fairs, visits to schools and universities, and contacting existing and potential clients and prospective students to increase the volume of student enquiries, applications and enrolments.
2. Strategic marketing and omnichannel recruitment campaigns: Dr Zhu adapts to the diversity of China’s cultures, develops strategic marketing and multi-channel recruitment campaigns, and uses social media, web, email, other digital advertising and traditional advertising to promote our educational programmes and attract students.
3. Consulting services: Dr Zhu provides clients and audiences with necessary information about courses, degrees, universities, and the British higher education system and guides prospective students through the application and enrolment process.
4. Relationship building: Dr Zhu develops and maintains relationships with various stakeholders, including existing and potential clients, prospective students, education providers, education institutions, organisations for educational projects, government departments, influencers, etc. and expands the network of business partners in China.
5. Market analysis: Dr Zhu collects data on the Chinese market, analyses market features and trends and optimises student recruitment strategies to remain competitive.

Dr Zhu was educated both in the UK and China. He obtained his PhD from the University of Manchester, his master’s degree from the University of Birmingham, and his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China. Dr Zhu has lectured at several UK higher education institutions, including Alliance Manchester Business School, and conducted academic research at leading UK retailers such as Tesco and New Look. He has a profound knowledge and understanding of the education systems in China and the UK. In addition, Dr Zhu has many years of work experience in several business sectors in China and the UK.
